Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026.
1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy explains how SLG Digital LLC (the "Company," "we," "us") and the independent law firms that provide legal services through the Site (each, a "Law Firm"; the Law Firm named in your Engagement Agreement is your "Firm") collect, use, share, and protect personal information through SignMyWill.com and its related websites (the "Site") and the services offered on it. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in our Terms of Service.
Two protections apply to your information. The Company operates the Site and handles scheduling, signing sessions, printing, shipping, and recording coordination. Your Firm provides legal services. Information you give for your legal matter is also confidential under the rules of professional conduct that govern your Firm's attorneys. Your Firm may also have its own privacy notice, which applies to information it holds outside the Site. Where those rules give your information more protection than this policy, those rules control.
Who sees what. The Site is built so that Company staff cannot see your Plan Finder answers, intake questionnaire, draft documents, or attorney review notes. Company staff see only the final and signed documents, the contact and scheduling details needed to conduct your signing, assemble your binder, ship your documents, and coordinate recording, and the property address and public property records needed to prepare a deed or transfer on death instrument for recording. If you opt in to marketing emails, Company staff also see your name, email, and phone number, but never your Plan Finder answers or results. Each Law Firm sees only the information of its own clients and prospective clients; no Law Firm can see another Law Firm's files.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
2. Information We Collect
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Contact and identity | Name, address, email, phone, date of birth, county of residence | You |
| Family and fiduciaries | Spouse, children, and others you name as executors, agents, trustees, guardians, or beneficiaries, with their relationships and contact details | You |
| Financial and property | Estimated assets, real estate, accounts, business interests, beneficiary designations | You; public property records |
| Planning concerns | Answers that affect your plan, such as a terminal diagnosis, cognitive concerns, long-term care, or a beneficiary with special needs | You |
| Tax identifier | Social Security or taxpayer number of one LLC member, collected only to obtain an EIN | You |
| Payment | Card type, last four digits, billing ZIP, and payment status (full card numbers are held by our payment processor, not by us) | You; payment processor |
| Signing session | ID images, identity-verification results, live facial images, and the audio-video recording of the session | You; signing platform |
| Conflict check | Names compared against the Firm's client records | Firm records |
| Device and usage | IP address, browser, pages visited, and cookie data | Automatically |
When you give us information about another person, such as a child or a named agent, you confirm that you may share it for the purpose of preparing your plan.
The only biometric data collected for your order is collected through the notary software used for remote signings (currently BlueNotary), which may compare a live image of your face to the photo on your government ID to confirm your identity. The Company and the Law Firms do not collect biometric data themselves. That comparison may create biometric identifiers or biometric information under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (740 ILCS 14/).
- Purpose: only to verify your identity for the notarization and witnessing of your documents and to prevent fraud.
- Consent: no facial comparison occurs unless you have signed a written Biometric Information Release. Each signer signs their own release at checkout, together with the Engagement Agreement, so it is on file before your notary appointment. If you decline, you sign in person at your Firm's office instead.
- No sale or profit: we and our signing platform do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data, and do not disclose it except to complete your notarization, as required by law, or with your consent.
- Retention and destruction: biometric data is permanently destroyed when the identity-verification purpose is satisfied, and in no event later than 3 years after your last interaction with us, whichever comes first, unless a valid warrant or subpoena requires otherwise. The session recording itself is kept as notary law requires (see Section 4).
- Safeguards: biometric data is stored and transmitted using the same or greater protection we use for other confidential information.
3. How We Use and Share Information
How we use it. We use personal information to: show how each plan handles your situation and decide whether the Firm can represent you; check for conflicts of interest; prepare, review, and deliver your documents; verify identity and conduct signings; record deeds and transfer on death instruments; process payments and pass-through costs; communicate with you about your order; prevent fraud and secure the Site; improve the Site; and meet legal and professional obligations. We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with. We share personal information only as follows:

Our service providers may use your information only to provide services to us and must protect it. Mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Business transfer. If the Company's business is sold or merged, Site and order information may transfer to the successor. Your legal file belongs to your Firm and does not transfer to a successor of the Company. If your Firm stops using the Site, the Company will return or delete the Site's copies of your legal file at your Firm's direction.
4. Cookies, Retention, and Security
Cookies and analytics. We use cookies that are necessary to run the Site and keep you signed in. We may use a website analytics service, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use our public pages. Analytics do not run on the Plan Finder, checkout, or intake pages. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on pages where you enter planning information. Our Site does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
How long we keep it.
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Plan Finder answers when no order is placed | Deleted when no longer needed, except the names and contact details the Law Firm must keep to check for conflicts of interest |
| Your legal file (intake, drafts, final documents, engagement records) | For the minimum period required by law and by the rules of professional conduct, under your Firm's file-retention policy |
| Remote signing recordings and notary journal | As notary law requires (Illinois: at least 7 years) |
| Biometric data | See the Illinois Biometric Information Notice in Section 2 |
| Social Security or taxpayer number for an EIN | Deleted 30 days after the EIN is obtained, or when the order is cancelled |
| Payment and accounting records | For the minimum period required by tax and accounting laws |
Unless your Engagement Agreement provides otherwise, signed original documents are delivered to you and are not kept by the Company or your Firm.
Security. We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls that separate each Law Firm's legal files from Company staff and from other Law Firms, audit logs, and additional encryption for taxpayer numbers. No system is perfectly secure. Protect your email account, because sign-in links are sent there.
Breach notice. If a security breach exposes your personal information, we will notify you and any required authorities as the data-breach laws of your state of residence require (for example, 815 ILCS 530 in Illinois and RSMo 407.1500 in Missouri).
5. Your Choices, Children, Changes, and Contact
Your choices. You may ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, or delete it, and you may withdraw consent to marketing at any time. We will respond within 45 days. We may keep information we are required to keep by law, by notary rules, or by your Firm's professional obligations, and we will tell you if we cannot honor part of a request. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children. The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from minors except the information a parent provides about their own children to prepare the parent's plan, such as names for beneficiary or guardian provisions.
Changes to this policy. We will post any update with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will notify you by email before it takes effect.
